The issue of developing trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) states was discussed at the EEC headquarters during a meeting between EEC Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics Daniyar Imanaliev and SADC Executive Secretary Elias Mpedi Magosi. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

EAEU-SADC dialogue

“The EEC is developing dialogue with leading African regional associations and considers SADC a promising partner for exchanging experience in economic integration. Our goal is to expand trade and economic ties between the EAEU countries and Southern Africa,” Imanaliev said.

The EEC minister presented the priorities of the EAEU's international activities to the partners. He also expressed interest in studying SADC's experience in developing relations between member states.

SADC priorities and areas of cooperation

Elias Mpedi Magosi presented SADC's development priorities and outlined areas of cooperation with the EAEU countries. These include developing a single market for goods and services, implementing infrastructure projects, ensuring food security, as well as cooperation in agriculture and creating transport corridors.

The parties agreed to strengthen ties and explore joint events with the participation of business and expert communities. The key goal is to raise business awareness of opportunities to operate in the EAEU and SADC markets.

Events and forums

The SADC executive secretary proposed using “SADC Industrialization Week” as the main platform for dialogue between the EAEU and African business. This business forum is held annually in July-August in the country chairing SADC.

Daniyar Imanaliev, in turn, invited the partners to participate in the Eurasian Economic Forum, which will be held in May 2027 in Bishkek.

SADC is a community of 16 African states, headquartered in Gaborone, Botswana.
