The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) will assess the prospects of a free trade agreement with Jordan. A joint research group is planned to be created for this purpose. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to EEC Trade Minister Andrey Slepnev, the trade potential of the two sides is currently not fully realized. "Reducing tariffs could significantly increase supplies in both directions," he said.

The research group will include candidates proposed by the EAEU countries, as well as representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

According to the Eurasian Economic Commission, at present the two sides mainly trade in food products, agricultural raw materials, metals, wood materials, textile materials, and chemical products.

It is worth noting that the EAEU and the Southern African Development Community are expanding cooperation.
