The free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Indonesia may enter into force by the end of the year. This was stated by Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Alexey Gruzdev. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

"I can only say that the majority of the union's member countries have completed ratification procedures. Recently, the President of Indonesia, speaking at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum, announced that he had signed a decree on ratification of the agreement. I think the agreement will enter into force by the end of the year," Gruzdev said.

He explained that for the agreement to enter into force, each of the five EAEU member countries must complete internal state procedures. According to the deputy minister, the agreement covers a wide range of goods and provides for reducing mutual duties to practically zero.

The free trade agreement between the EAEU and Indonesia was signed on December 21, 2025, in St. Petersburg on the sidelines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting. The document provides for the introduction of a duty-free trade regime for more than 90 percent of the commodity nomenclature.

For the agreement to enter into force, Indonesia and the union's member countries – Kazakhstan, Russia, Armenia, Belarus and Kyrgyzstan – must complete ratification procedures.
