The free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will enter into force on October 6 this year. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
At the Russia-Kyrgyzstan Economic Forum, Andrei Slepnev, Trade Minister of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), stated that today the parties exchanged notes confirming the full completion of the ratification procedures of the agreement.
Currently, the UAE is one of the main trading partners of the EAEU. Trade turnover between the countries of the Eurasian "five" and the UAE is steadily growing. In 2025, it increased by 12% compared to 2024.
Under the new trade regime formed within the agreement, the Emirati side has opened preferential access to 86% of EAEU goods exported to the UAE, which constitutes 98% of the export volume. Thanks to the granted preferences, exporters from EAEU countries will be able to save at least $266 million annually on customs duties.
"After the agreement enters into force, we expect the annual trade turnover between our countries to increase by at least $5-6 billion," said Andrei Slepnev.
Preferential access is provided for key agricultural products of the EAEU. These include grain crops (wheat, barley, corn), meat products (beef, lamb, offal), poultry meat, eggs, dried vegetables (chickpeas, peas, lentils, beans), vegetable oil, dairy products, confectionery, honey, mineral water, jams, and chocolate.
