Today, the economic partnership agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), its member states and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), signed in June 2025, entered into force. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

This was announced by the Eurasian Economic Commission. According to the Eurasian Economic Commission, the agreement provides for significant liberalization of the trade regime. The UAE has offered preferential trade terms for 86% of goods imported from EAEU countries.

This corresponds to 98% of the Union's exports.

"The average rate applied by the partner country to Union goods will decrease from 5% to 0.6%. According to our estimates, the preferences received will allow exporters from EAEU countries to save up to $266 million annually when paying customs duties," said Minister of Trade Andrey Slepnev.

According to him, in the medium term, the growth in trade turnover will amount to at least $5-6 billion.

The agreement also enshrines modern rules and mechanisms aimed at developing interaction between the business community, including small and medium-sized businesses.

"Cooperation in the field of transport and logistics is also envisaged. Within its framework, there is a possibility of connecting the UAE to the international 'North-South' corridor," the commission's statement says.

Andrey Slepnev called on business representatives of EAEU countries to actively use new opportunities and develop cooperation with the Emirati side.

"North-South" is an international transport corridor with a length of 7.2 thousand kilometers. It connects the countries of Eurasia with the Persian Gulf and India through the Caspian region and Iran via a network of railway, road and sea routes.
