A seminar at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) discussed removing trade barriers and prospects for cooperation with Iran. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
During the seminar, representatives of the five EAEU member states considered the most promising areas under the free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran. According to EEC Trade Minister Andrey Slepnev, experts from the EAEU and Iran need to identify specific problems in trade, propose ways to solve them, and prepare concrete proposals for consideration by partners. He also recalled that thanks to the free trade agreement that entered into force on May 15, 2025, a preferential trade regime has been introduced for 90% of goods.
As a result, Iran's average import customs duty on goods from EAEU countries decreased from 20% to 4.5%.
