EAEU to unify e-commerce rules from 2027

New rules for regulating external e-commerce in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will come into force on January 1, 2027. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Heads of government have instructed to carry out preparatory work before this date, the Eurasian Economic Commission reported.

Entry into force

"The document is expected to enter into force after the Eurasian Economic Commission receives the last ratification instrument," the statement said.

Currently, amendments to the EAEU Customs Code have been ratified in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

Key changes

"The main novelty of the amendments to the EAEU Customs Code is the allocation of goods purchased in the framework of external e-commerce into a separate category and the establishment of specific regulations for them," said Andrey Slepnev, EEC Minister of Trade.

After the amendments take effect, a unified customs duty rate of 5%, but not less than €1/kg, will apply to most goods purchased via e-commerce.

Additionally, the threshold for duty-free import will be set at €200.
