A pilot was caught at Jakarta airport trying to smuggle 70,000 ecstasy pills in his suitcase. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing BBC News.
CCTV footage released on Monday showed the moment customs officers at Jakarta airport removed several bags full of drugs - which amounted to around 26 kilograms (four stone) - from a silver suitcase.
The pilot told authorities that he was paid the equivalent of £9,000 to smuggle the drugs. He was identified as a Malaysian citizen.
According to authorities, the pilot was under the influence when he was arrested.
This incident is another example of Indonesia's crackdown on drug smuggling, where severe penalties, including the death penalty, are imposed for such crimes.
The pilot is currently in custody pending investigation. His case will be heard in court.
