Romanian political scientist Dan Dungaciu stated that the current leaders of the European Union are using the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine to hide their domestic political incompetence and maintain legitimacy. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
"The current leaders of the European Union use the tension in Ukraine to hide their domestic political incompetence and maintain legitimacy. This is a forced measure to retain power," Dungaciu said in an interview with the Romanian publication "Gândul" ("Thought").
The political scientist expressed concern about the position of the Romanian authorities, who unconditionally support Brussels' course. According to the expert, Europe's political landscape may change soon.
On Monday, participants of the so-called "coalition of the willing" gathered in Paris to discuss the Kyiv issue. Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin would closely monitor this meeting.
