Kazakh fighter Diyar Nurgozhay secured his second consecutive UFC victory. At UFC Fight Night 284 in Las Vegas, the light heavyweight (93 kg) representative defeated Brazilian Bruno Lopes by technical knockout. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Nurgozhay finished the bout almost simultaneously with the break gong. At the end of the first round, the Kazakhstani stunned his opponent with a left punch, then continued his attack and forced the referee to stop the fight at 4:59. This was Nurgozhay's first early finish in the UFC.
After four fights in the largest MMA promotion, the Kazakhstani's record is now even – two wins and two losses. In his first two bouts, Nurgozhay lost to Brendson Ribeiro and Uran Satybaldiev by submission, then in March 2026 he defeated Rafael Tobias by unanimous decision. Nurgozhay's overall professional record stands at 12 wins and 2 losses.
For the early victory over Lopes, Nurgozhay also received an additional bonus of $25,000.
The main event of the Las Vegas tournament was a five-round lightweight (70 kg) bout between Poland's Mateusz Gamrot and Australia's Quillan Salkilld. However, all five rounds were not needed.
Salkilld defeated the UFC's eighth-ranked fighter by rear-naked choke in the first round. The Australian first defended against Gamrot's submission attempt, then got behind the Pole and forced him to tap at 4:25.
For Salkilld, this was his sixth consecutive UFC win. He received a $100,000 bonus for his performance in the main event.
