A student who pulled a prank and tore his diploma in public in Almaty has been arrested. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the city police department, a graduate of one of the private colleges in Almaty tore a diploma cover-like object in public after the diploma presentation ceremony.

During the inspection, it was established that the original diploma, its supplement, and the original cover issued by the educational institution were not damaged. The video used a pre-prepared copy of the diploma cover.

Nevertheless, the published video spread widely on the internet, caused various opinions in society, and became the basis for a police investigation.

The author of the video was brought to administrative responsibility under Part 3-1 of Article 456-2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses. Additionally, under Part 1 of Article 434 of the Code of Administrative Offenses "Petty hooliganism," he was arrested for five days, the Almaty police said.
