Kazakh athlete Dinara Dauylkyzy finished 4th at the U20 World Wrestling Championships in Bratislava. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
In the bronze medal match in the 50 kg category, she lost to Sahibjamal Esbosynova of Uzbekistan with a score of 0:12, missing out on the podium.
Road to the Podium
In her first bout, Dauylkyzy defeated Azerbaijan's Esra Mamadali 7:1, and in the round of 16 she beat Belarusian Kseniya Kryshtofnik 10:2.
The quarterfinal did not go well for Dinara – she lost 0:11 to Alexa Alvarez. However, since the Venezuelan reached the final, Dauylkyzy earned the right to compete for bronze through the repechage round. There, she dominated Kyrgyzstan's Elmira Karabalaeva 14:3.
Bronze Bout
Then came the bronze medal match against Esbosynova, where Dauylkyzy failed to add the U20 World Championship bronze to her 2026 Asian Youth Championship bronze.
Other Results
Other decisive bouts today went without Kazakh representatives. Alpamys Bulatuly (60 kg) and Nurdaulet Rakhman (82 kg) in Greco-Roman wrestling, as well as Medina Kuanyshbek (50 kg) and Meiramgul Maksut (72 kg) in women's wrestling, were eliminated in the early stages.
Only Medal
The only medal for Kazakhstan, and it was gold, was brought by Greco-Roman wrestler Kyzybek Kalmagambetov in the 67 kg category.
About the Tournament
The world championship under the auspices of the United World Wrestling (UWW), held in the Slovak capital, features 700 young athletes from around the globe. They compete for 120 medals in three wrestling styles: Greco-Roman, freestyle, and women's wrestling.
Kazakhstan is represented in Bratislava by 30 athletes – 20 men and 10 women.
