Majilis deputies demanded stricter measures to limit internet content that negatively affects children's psychology. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to lower house representative Danabek Isabek, there is currently a shortage of quality content in the Kazakh language on the internet. Educational platforms, animation, scientific-educational programs, and educational media projects cannot compete with the aggressive flow of information on global digital platforms.
"This is a very important social and psychological problem. Because it is during this period that children's thinking system, behavior, language environment, and value orientations are formed. Today we must admit that TikTok is raising our children's minds before school. Especially during summer holidays, the time teenagers spend on the internet increases several times. They become addicted to online games, short videos, uncontrolled content, and fall into the center of various algorithmic information influences," Isabek said at today's Majilis session.
Developed countries consider digital space as the main platform for national ideology. "For example, South Korea forms global influence through cultural content, China strictly regulates digital platforms for children. France and Germany protect media content in the national language at the state level, and Turkey strengthens cultural influence through historical series. In the current situation, there are few Kazakh cartoons for children, insufficient scientific-educational YouTube projects, weak IT and educational platforms in the Kazakh language, and insufficient control over content harmful to children's psychology," the deputy said.
In this regard, he sent a deputy request to the government and made several proposals: - adopt a state strategy for the development of quality digital content in the Kazakh language for children; - strengthen special preventive and educational measures to ensure internet safety for teenagers during summer holidays; - improve legal and technical mechanisms to limit content that negatively affects children's psychology on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and other digital platforms; - increase the volume of state support and funding for animation, children's cinema, scientific-educational, and educational media projects in the Kazakh language.
