Deputies of the Kurultai demanded that special areas for the elderly be allocated when designing residential complexes. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Today, apartment buildings have children's playgrounds, sports grounds and public spaces. However, a special place or space for the elderly was not included in this plan.

In this regard, the JSDP proposes to introduce a new norm into the law. It stipulates that when designing multi-apartment residential complexes, a comfortable place must be provided for representatives of the older generation to rest, communicate with each other and actively participate in public life.

"In this regard, the JSDP proposes to introduce a new norm into the law. It stipulates that when designing multi-apartment residential complexes, a comfortable place must be provided for representatives of the older generation to rest, communicate with each other and actively participate in public life," said deputy Arman Akylbay.

According to him, the area of the special place should be set at 0.8 square meters per apartment.

"This place should not be used for commercial purposes. And subsequently it should not be sold or used for other purposes. Most importantly, its original status of public purpose must be permanently preserved. In the future, this space should be suitable for appointments by medical and social service specialists," Akylbay emphasized.

JSDP deputies also proposed that the government develop a specific interdepartmental project to create a unified long-term care system.

"We emphasize that a person in old age should not remain on the sidelines of the attention of the state and society. Any elderly person is a full-fledged citizen of their country. Creating conditions for them is the duty of the state," they say.
