Kazakhstan athletes successfully performed at major international competitions in Olympic sports, winning 19 medals of various denominations over the past weekend. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Several national teams achieved high results at world and continental events, confirming the competitiveness of Kazakhstani sports on the international stage.
The most successful was the performance of the national boxing team at the second stage of the World Boxing Cup in Guiyang, China. Kazakh boxers won eight medals — five gold and three bronze. The tournament winners were Sanzhar Tashkenbay, Abylaykhan Zhusupov, Aibek Oralbay, Nazym Kyzaibay, and Victoria Grafeeva.
At the WKF Asian Karate Championship on the island of Bali, the national team won seven awards — two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals. Asian champions were Zholaman Bigabyl and Olzhas Altynbek, confirming the high level of the Kazakh karate school.
Another gold medal was brought by the Kazakhstan athletics team. At the Asian Relay Championships in Shaoxing, China, the Kazakh team won the mixed 4×400 meters relay. The winning quartet included Elnur Mukhitdinov, Maria Shuvalova, Andrey Sokolov, and Adelina Zems.
The performance of Kazakh fencers at the Asian Championships in New Delhi was historic. Irina Bakaldina won the gold medal in women's individual épée for the first time in the history of Kazakh fencing. Another award was brought by Ruslan Kurbanov, who became bronze medalist in men's individual épée.
Another success was recorded in shooting. At the Junior World Championships in Germany, Rinat Kazachenko won a silver medal in the 50m three positions small-bore rifle event. This award became Kazakhstan's first medal at the current world championship.
The results of the past weekend once again demonstrated the high level of training of Kazakh athletes and the effectiveness of systematic work on the development of Olympic sports in the country.
