Kurultai deputy Lyazzat Kozhakhmet explained what changes to maternity payments will be introduced next year. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Today, maternity payments for pregnancy and childbirth, as well as for childcare up to one year, are paid from the State Social Insurance Fund.
"If you worked and gave birth to a child, you will continue to receive your maternity payment. It does not matter whether you are needy or not needy, well-off or not well-off. You worked and paid social contributions every month. Therefore, the State Social Insurance Fund pays 40 percent of your previous income until your child reaches one and a half years old," said Lyazzat Kozhakhmet.
According to her, starting January 1 next year, women in groups "A" and "B" will continue to receive maternity payments.
By law, women who did not work and did not pay contributions do not receive maternity payments from the fund. But from the new year, payments from the fund may also be provided to non-working women.
"From January 1, she will receive this payment only if her family is needy. If not needy, that is, the woman is able-bodied, has no health problems, and the family has the income necessary for living. They will not be able to receive the maternity payment," the deputy concluded.
