English Chelsea drew 3:3 with Malaysia's Johor Darul Ta'zim, concluding their Australian-Asian tour. The 17-year-old new signing of the Londoners, Dastan Satpayev, came on the field at the end of the second half. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
For the third consecutive game, there was no place for the Kazakhstani in the starting lineup. The left winger position was again occupied by Jamie Gittens. Apparently, Satpayev's goal in Sydney did not convince Xabi Alonso. It seems that Dastan will have to go on loan. And not necessarily to Hull City. The new Premier League club is actively interested in the former Kairat player, but it is still unclear what the Blues' coaching staff thinks about this.
The loan option, I think, will benefit the Kazakhstani wunderkind. The guy will adapt to foreign football, build muscle, improve his understanding of the game, and once again attract the attention of scouts. After all, Chelsea is not the only club in the world.
Match Overview
⚽ JOHOR DARUL TA'ZIM (Malaysia) – CHELSEA (London, England) 3:3 (1:1). Goals: Aiman 14 (1:0), Delap 42 penalty (1:1), Delap 62 penalty (1:2), Pasero 65 (2:2), Berson 86 (3:2), Glouder 89 own goal (3:3)
The visitors' advantage at the start of the match at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium was so great that it seemed a big score was coming. Carried away by attacks, the English missed a quick counterattack by the hosts on the left flank of their defense. Arif Aiman punished the opponents for carelessness in the 14th minute – 1:0.
After that, Liam Delap converted two undisputed penalties, and three minutes after the second, Filipino Oscar Arribas Pasero skillfully executed a free kick. It was not without a ricochet from the same Delap – 2:2.
In the end, Brazilian Berson put the hosts ahead, but an own goal by Filipino Christian Glouder brought the match to a draw – 3:3.
The last two goals were scored already with Satpayev on the field, who came off the bench together with Ukrainian Mykhailo Mudryk in the 86th minute. Including added time, the Kazakhstani played 8 minutes.
Tour Progress
In the first match of the tour, Chelsea beat Australian club Western Sydney Wanderers – 6:4. Satpayev opened both the scoring in the match and his personal scoring account for the Club World Champions.
The second game saw the Blues lose the London derby to Tottenham – 1:2. The Kazakhstani new signing came on in the second half but did not stand out.
In the match against Juventus (0:1), Dastan also had little playing time. His only shot on goal against the Turin side was not dangerous. In the next match of the tour, in Jakarta against Milan, Satpayev remained on the bench.
Future Plans
On August 15, the Blues will play a friendly in London against Real Sociedad. On August 24, Chelsea will start the 2026 English Premier League with an away match against Fulham.
Satpayev's transfer from Kairat to Chelsea became known in February 2025. The deal, including bonuses, was estimated at 4.3 million euros.
Before leaving for England, the young forward played 58 matches for the Almaty club, scored 26 goals, and made ten assists.
On August 12, three days before the match against the Basques, Satpayev will turn 18.
