Kazakh striker Dastan Satpayev spoke about his first days at English club Burnley, his relationship with the head coach and his expectations for the Championship. In an interview with the club's press service, the 18-year-old footballer also addressed fans from Kazakhstan. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Satpayev joined Burnley on loan after pre-season training with Chelsea. According to the footballer, the move to the Championship club should help him get used to the specifics of English football faster.
"I think this is a good and right step for me. I will adapt and see how they play in the Championship. This will help me get used to English football better. I just have to work and improve," Satpayev said.
The Kazakh said he quickly found common ground with his teammates. According to him, Burnley players help him settle in and give advice during training.
"The first days went well. All the guys are friendly, constantly asking how I am and if I need anything. So I'm happy to be here and be part of the club," the striker said.
Satpayev also spoke positively about the team's head coach Nick Hayen. The footballer noted that the coach made it clear he counts on him.
"The coach is very good. We have a pleasant communication. He says he is happy about my move. It is very important when the coach says that," Satpayev noted.
One of the main goals for the season, the Kazakh named the return of Burnley to the English Premier League.
According to Satpayev, he feels support not only from Kazakhs, but also from the fans of the new club.
"I am very glad that the fans are happy about my move. Now I need to prove to them and to myself that I can help the club return to the Premier League. And I will do it," the footballer said.
The busy schedule of English football does not bother him either. Satpayev believes that matches every few days help players maintain their game rhythm.
At the same time, the striker stressed that he does not consider his previous achievements the limit of his capabilities.
"Of course, it's nice, but it's not all I'm capable of. I can do better. If I continue in the same spirit, I may be able to set new records," he said.
Separately, the footballer addressed Kazakh fans who actively supported him during pre-season training at Chelsea and after the move to Burnley.
"Thank you so much for such support! When I was doing pre-season at Chelsea, they supported me in every game, under every post. I am happy to have such wonderful people. I love them because it is my country," Satpayev said.
He added that he wants to show with his performances that Kazakh footballers can successfully play in Europe.
