Kazakhstan's top doubles player Anna Danilina, in tandem with James Tracy from the USA, won the first match in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon 2026 – 7:5, 6:4. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The opponents, Britons Emily Appleton and Luke Johnson, conceded defeat after 1 hour 11 minutes. Danilina is competing at the Grand Slam tournament in two disciplines. In doubles, Anna, together with her regular partner Alexandra Krunic from Serbia, prevailed in the Kazakh derby the day before.
The match against the tournament hosts, who received a wild card from the organizers, also turned out successful. In the first set at 5-5, Danilina and Tracy managed a break, immediately confirmed – 7:5. In the second set, Anna and James won the opponents' serve in the seventh game, then held their own – 5:3. The rest was a matter of technique.
The opponent of the Kazakh-American duo in the quarterfinal match will be determined later.
Earlier, Andrey Golubev and Aleksandr Nedovyesov lost in the first round of men's doubles to the Dutch-French duo of Jesper de Jong and Valentin Royer – 3:6, 4:6.
