The Kazakh-Serbian duo Anna Danilina (6) and Aleksandra Krunich (5) failed to reach the third round of the WTA-1000 tournament in Cincinnati. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The three-time Grand Slam runners-up lost their quarterfinal spot to the tandem of Magali Kempen (Belgium, 52) and Alexandra Panova (Russia, 38) – 3:6, 2:6.

The high ranking of Danilina and Krunich did not guarantee victory. After breaking in the first game of the match, the favorites took the lead. However, they then lost the initiative, conceded two service games, and lost the set overall.

In the second set, against three breaks by Kempen and Panova, Krunich and Danilina could only respond with one. 3:6, 2:6 – a crushing defeat in just 63 minutes, convincingly characterized by the total points won – 39:55.

Thus, Kazakh tennis in Cincinnati is now represented only by Elena Rybakina. Tonight, the world No. 2 will battle for a quarterfinal spot against Russian Diana Shnaider (14).

The current WTA-1000 Cincinnati Open is the 80th edition. The oldest tournament in the United States has never changed its location. The competition is held on outdoor hard courts in Mason, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. The prize money for the women's Cincinnati Open-2026 is $7.43 million.
