Health Minister Akmaral Alnazarova announced the number of criminal cases opened for using force against doctors. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

In March of this year, amendments toughening penalties for physical violence and threats against medical workers came into force. Since then, dozens of criminal cases have been opened.

"About 50 criminal cases have been opened across Kazakhstan," Alnazarova said at a government briefing.

In this regard, the minister also commented on the recent incident in Aktau. There, a man who came to the hospital with a child attacked a surgeon with his fists.

It should be noted that under the new article introduced into the Criminal Code, beating a doctor is punishable by imprisonment for up to 12 years.
