Most of the 34.4 billion tenge allocated for the elections of deputies to the Kurultai went to salaries of election commission members and organizing the vote. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

At a CEC meeting, member of the Central Election Commission Mikhail Bortnik said that the money from the republican budget was directed to local executive bodies, and then to election commissions at the local level.

"The spending of these funds is aimed at the main aspects related to the salaries of election commissions working locally, as well as organizing the elections themselves," the CEC representative said at a briefing.

He stressed that budget funds are spent in accordance with the law. The CEC has not yet named final data on how much the elections actually cost and how the 34.4 billion tenge were distributed.

The results of the spending will be summed up within 6 days after the end of the election campaign. The commission also said it is ready to provide detailed cost data separately.

Earlier, the CEC summed up the results of the elections of deputies to the Kurultai, held on August 23. The voter lists included 12.6 million people, of whom 9.35 million voted. The final turnout was 74.08%. Five parties entered the Kurultai: "Adilet" received 110 mandates, "Auyl" - 10, Respublica - 9, OSDP and "Ak Zhol" - 8 each.

Distribution of funds

According to Bortnik, the bulk of the funds went to salaries of election commissions. This is payment for the work of thousands of people ensuring the electoral process at the local level. There were also expenses for preparing polling stations, printing ballots, and distributing informational materials.

The CEC representative noted that budget funds are spent in accordance with the law. This is an important part of ensuring transparency and accountability of the electoral process. However, exact amounts and expenditure items have not yet been published.

Final report

Within 6 days after the end of the election campaign, the CEC will present a full report on the spending of funds. This report will show where every tenge of the 34.4 billion was spent. The commission is also ready to provide detailed information upon additional requests.
