From August 6 to 9, Astana will host the international Comic Con Astana festival. One of the main guests will be British-Spanish actor Taz Skylar, known for his role as Sanji in the Netflix live-action series 'One Piece.' This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing the capital's akimat.
The actor gained widespread fame for playing Sanji, a chef and martial arts master and a key member of the Straw Hat Pirates, in the adaptation of the popular manga and anime.
Besides 'One Piece,' Taz Skylar has appeared in the film and series 'Boiling Point,' the action thriller 'Cleaner,' the war drama 'The Kill Team,' and the detective comedy 'Agatha Raisin.' In addition to acting, he works as a screenwriter, director, and producer, and is an extreme sports enthusiast.
During the festival, the artist will take the main stage of Comic Con Astana, interact with fans, answer questions, and participate in autograph and photo sessions.
Another international guest will be the South Korean K-pop group Kandis. The group will present a special program for festival attendees. Previously, the group represented South Korea at the international television vocal competition Silk Way Star, held in Kazakhstan.
Comic Con Astana is considered the largest modern pop culture festival in Central Asia. It annually gathers fans of movies, series, anime, comics, video games, and cosplay from various countries.
In 2026, the festival will again take place at two venues: Barys Arena and the Alau Ice Palace. One of the central events will be an international cosplay competition with a prize fund of 20 million tenge.
