Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš has called on European countries to allocate funds for Ukraine's reconstruction. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
Babiš made the statement on Saturday at a pre-election rally in the town of Lipník nad Bečvou in the east of the country. His words were carried by the ČTK agency.
"I believe that Europe, which agreed to allocate 377 billion euros to Ukraine since the conflict began, would have done better to direct these funds toward Ukraine's reconstruction rather than spending them on war," the Czech prime minister said.
He also noted that U.S. President Donald Trump continues to maintain contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "Unfortunately, on this issue, U.S. President Donald Trump continues to maintain contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, some leaders say they should be supported. Therefore, I think no one wants war," Babiš said.
According to the Czech prime minister, around 600,000-700,000 young Ukrainian citizens currently live in Europe. In his opinion, they too may not want to take part in the war. "Therefore, it would be better if the war ended as soon as possible," he said.
According to Babiš, the issue now depends on world and European leaders. In his view, they prefer to talk about the war rather than try to stop it.
Babiš also believes that the main beneficiaries of the conflict include arms and energy producers, as well as banks.
