BYD is preparing to launch the third generation of its Tang EV electric crossover, CarNewsChina reports. The model has already appeared at Chinese dealerships ahead of its expected November premiere at the Guangzhou auto show. Instead of an architecture shared with internal combustion models, the newcomer has received a dedicated electric platform and an all-wheel-drive version producing 691 hp. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Dimensions and interior

The new BYD Tang EV has grown to 5,045 mm in length, while its wheelbase has reached 2,950 mm, an increase of 130 mm. The cabin now has only two rows of seats, but rear passengers are promised more than a metre of legroom. Seatbacks can recline up to 130 degrees, and folding tables are provided for passengers.

Instead of a rotating central screen, a 30-inch panoramic display has been installed. Equipment also includes a heated refrigerator and a front trunk.

Chassis and suspension

The chassis is based on double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspensions. A DiSus-A system with dual-chamber air springs and adaptive dampers has also appeared, allowing ride height and suspension characteristics to be changed.

Power and batteries

The rear-wheel-drive version has received a 408-hp electric motor, while the all-wheel-drive version is equipped with two motors with a combined output of 691 hp and can reach up to 250 km/h. Batteries with capacities of 88.7 and 105.8 kWh are offered. Range is 730–850 km on the CLTC cycle, and up to 830 km for the all-wheel-drive variant with the larger battery.

BYD promises charging from 10% to 70% in five minutes, and to 97% in nine minutes at certain stations. Driver assistance is handled by the DiPilot 300 complex with a roof-mounted lidar.

Prices and delivery dates

Retail prices for buyers and the start of deliveries have not yet been announced. Dealer documents list only purchase prices of 225,000 and 240,000 yuan (approximately 15.3–16.3 million tenge).

Earlier, Kursiv Auto reported that BYD plans to push the Yangwang U9 Xtreme to 500 km/h in Dubai.
