BYD has officially unveiled the production version of the new Tang 8 Series electric crossover. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The model is equipped with an electric motor producing 408 hp (300 kW), a claimed range of over 800 km, and a top speed of 250 km/h, according to CarNewsChina.

It remains unclear whether the new model will replace the current Tang L or be sold alongside it. In terms of size, the Tang 8 Series belongs to the large crossover class, with a length exceeding 5 meters.

Versions and Technical Specifications

The crossover will be offered in at least two versions: one exclusively five-seat, and the other either five- or seven-seat. Both modifications will feature a second-generation BYD Blade Battery LFP battery and a BYD TZ205QD synchronous permanent magnet motor. Its maximum power reaches 300 kW (408 hp), with a nominal power of 150 kW.

Chinese media also attribute an ultra-fast charging system and DiSus-A air suspension with dual-chamber air springs to the crossover. However, BYD has not officially confirmed these features.

Market Positioning

The new model will further complicate the brand's lineup of large crossovers. In China, the Tang L and flagship Da Tang 9 Series are already on sale, while some models are exported under the names Atto 8 and Sealion 8.

BYD has not yet announced official prices or a sales start date for the Tang 8 Series. The crossover is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2026.

Earlier, Kursiv Avto reported that hybrid crossovers BYD Yuan Up DM-i and Atto 8, as well as the Denza B8 SUV, will go on sale in Kazakhstan.
