A fatal accident involving a quad bike occurred in the Borovoye resort area. A 22-year-old resident of Astana died, and another girl was injured as a result of the traffic accident. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing KTK.
According to preliminary data, the quad bike was moving along the road between the villages of Zeleny Bor and Burabay. The driver, a 22-year-old woman from Astana, lost control at some point. The vehicle overturned, and the driver died at the scene.
The passenger of the quad bike was a 19-year-old girl. She sustained various injuries and was taken to a medical facility.
The police have initiated a pre-trial investigation into the incident. Law enforcement officers are clarifying all circumstances of the accident, including checking compliance with safety requirements when renting out quad bikes.
"A criminal case has been opened on this fact. As part of the investigation, police are establishing all circumstances of the incident, including checking the activities of quad bike rentals, compliance with safety requirements when providing motorcycles for rent, as well as other possible causes that led to the tragedy," said Asem Abdrakhmanova, senior inspector for special assignments of the Police Department of Akmola Region.
This is the second fatal case involving a quad bike in the Burabay resort area in recent months. In February of this year, a quad bike crashed into a tree. A 26-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries. Despite the efforts of doctors, she died in the hospital nine days later.
