In Burabay, a man was unable to descend Mount Bolektau on his own after feeling unwell. Rescuers helped him reach the foot of the mountain and handed him over to an ambulance crew, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The man, born in 1982, was at an altitude of about 350 meters. Employees of the operational rescue squad of the Emergency Situations Department of Akmola Region reached him, helped him descend and handed him over to medics.
"According to preliminary data, the man was diagnosed with a transient ischemic attack," the ministry said.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminded that before hiking in the mountains it is important to assess one's strength and choose a safe route.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that in May in Burabay rescuers helped nine foreign tourists who had climbed Mount Kokshetau, 750 meters high, but could not find a safe way down.
In September, a similar incident occurred in the Kimasar gorge in Almaty. A girl felt unwell at an altitude of about 2,600 meters. Rescuers provided assistance and lowered her from the mountain.
