Two new inhabitants — a male bison and a female sika deer — were born at the Burabay resort zoo. Both calves were born in late May. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The first calf born at the zoo was a bison. It was born on May 27.

"On May 27, a special event took place in our zoo — a bison calf was born. The little male feels well, is actively growing and getting to know the world around him," the Burabay zoo reported.

According to specialists, the calf's condition is stable. It is developing according to its age and receives sufficient nutrition from its mother's milk.

Spacious enclosures have been equipped for the bison at the zoo. Conditions have been created taking into account the natural needs of the animals. The bison's diet is also under the control of specialists and includes vegetables, barley, and hay. This nutrition allows the animals to obtain the necessary substances for full growth and development.

The zoo also shared the history of keeping bison in Burabay. The first male was brought in 2018 from the Karaganda Zoo. In 2020, a female from the hunting farm "Kyzyl Zhar" joined him. Including the calf born this year, there are now five bison in the zoo.

Another calf was born on May 31 in the sika deer family. The newborn female also feels well.

"According to specialists, the sika deer calf feels well, is actively growing and developing. All necessary conditions have been created for her healthy growth," the zoo reported.

Currently, the little deer is with her mother in a spacious enclosure. The animals' condition is monitored daily by zoo staff and veterinary specialists.

The diet of sika deer consists of vegetables, barley, and salt lick, which is necessary for maintaining health and mineral balance.

Today, four sika deer live in the zoo. These animals are among the first inhabitants of the zoo and have been there since its founding. The zoo notes that they attract visitors with their grace, appearance, and calm nature.

Residents and guests of the Burabay resort were invited to meet the animals and see the new inhabitants of the zoo. It is open daily from 09:00 to 20:00.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that Canadian lynxes appeared at the Almaty Zoo. The pair of new inhabitants arrived from the USA as part of an international animal exchange program.
