Bundestag MP: Ukraine's EU association is directed against Russia

Ukraine's association with the European Union is directed against Russia, said Steffen Kotre, a Bundestag member from the right-wing opposition Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Kotre made this statement in an interview with RIA Novosti. "We are again seeing an ideological and political project directed against Russia. This shows that its economic foundation is very weak and will eventually begin to collapse," Kotre said.

The deputy commented on Germany's proposal to grant Ukraine the status of an associated member of the EU on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
