Alexander Bublik (367th in ATP doubles ranking) continues his campaign at the US Open 2026 after his singles exit. Partnering with China's Shang Juncheng (601), he defeated Argentina's Sebastian Baez and Hungary's Fabian Marozsan (264) – 6:2, 6:4 – to reach the second round. The match lasted just 56 minutes. In the opening set, Bublik and Shang quickly gained the advantage with two breaks – 6:2. In the second set, Baez and Marozsan offered more resistance, but the Kazakh-Chinese duo closed the match without a deciding set – 6:4.
Baez and Marozsan hit more winners – 22 against 15 – but made significantly more errors. Bublik and Shang committed only six unforced errors, while their opponents made 17. In total points won, the victors held a 72:53 edge.
In the second round of the US Open 2026, Bublik and Shang will face Argentina's Guido Andreozzi (15) and France's Manuel Guinard (14).
Bublik and Shang have already played together this season. In February at the ATP 500 event in Dubai, they reached the quarterfinals, where they lost to Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten.
The day before, Bublik ended his singles run. In the third round, the Kazakhstani played a five-set match against American Tommy Paul and lost – 4:6, 6:3, 7:6 (7:4), 1:6, 3:6.
