A number of closed-door meetings between various delegations on resolving the conflict in Ukraine took place during the UN General Assembly. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This was stated by the official representative of the organization's head, Stéphane Dujarric.
"We know that a number of meetings, closed-door meetings between various delegations, took place," Dujarric said in response to a question from RIA Novosti at a press conference.
He also expressed hope that interested countries would use their time at the UN for negotiations and discussions aimed at ending the conflict.
"I believe the Secretary-General is being as active as possible on this issue," Dujarric said.
He had previously stated that UN Secretary-General António Guterres was in contact with Russia and Ukraine during discussions about a trilateral meeting involving the United States.
It was previously reported that an anti-Russia statement on Ukraine at the UN was supported by 51 of 193 countries.
