Kazakh musician Nurbek Yelemes, known as dudeontheguitar, regularly charts and performs at major festivals. However, not all listeners know where his journey began. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The story of Yelemes' creativity was told in the documentary OYU Live. The film takes the viewer through the routes of the artist's childhood: his home, the street where he played with friends, and the market where his mother sold sweets. Through these everyday details, the authors show how the future musician was formed.
Dudeontheguitar was born in Saryagash, Turkestan region. In 2015, Nurbek was going to move to Shymkent, but chose Almaty on the advice of his sister. During the day he studied at college to become an IT specialist, and in the evenings he performed in underground passages on Abay Avenue and Arbat, earning his first money from music.
"It can be said that the foundation of my creativity was laid in kindergarten. That's where the stage began. But I never imagined that I could become a professional singer," says Nurbek in the film.
After performing on the streets of Almaty, dudeontheguitar continued to write his own music and gradually gathered his first audience on the internet. He independently released tracks, experimented with sound in the genres of hip-hop, R&B and pop, and then released his debut album körpe in 2021.
Over time, tracks like Boiy Bolgan and Tugan Jer Tolgauy began to actively spread on social networks and streaming platforms, and the artist himself began to regularly appear at major festivals.
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle wrote about how fans of MEREY and Ayau started a war over albums with a similar theme. The subject of the dispute was floral aesthetics.
