The BTS fandom split after J-Hope and RM attended Chris Brown's concert. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
The scandal among the group's fans erupted after J-Hope posted several videos from the concert on Instagram. In the footage, he and RM are dancing and singing along during Chris Brown's performance. The posts quickly drew mixed reactions from BTS fans.
Part of ARMY saw nothing special in attending the concert. Fans note that attending a show does not necessarily mean supporting all of the artist's actions or views.
Other fans, on the contrary, criticized the BTS members. The reason was Brown's reputation and his past cases. In particular, in July 2026, the singer pleaded guilty to assaulting a music producer in a London nightclub in 2023. The rapper is also reminded of the scandal with Rihanna. Their relationship began in 2008 and ended in February 2009, when Brown beat the singer on the eve of the Grammy Awards. The musician pleaded guilty and received a suspended sentence.
Against this backdrop, some fans said that J-Hope and RM could have refused to attend the concert or at least not posted videos from the event. Others urged not to mix the personal choices of the members with the position of the entire group.
The situation is particularly acute because a large part of BTS's audience is female. Some ARMY considered public appearance at a concert by an artist with such a reputation inappropriate.
Earlier, Kursiv LifeStyle reported that the boy band refused to submit their new album ARIRANG for the Grammy 2027. The competition's jury was saddened by such a boycott.
