BRICS summit participants condemned violations of Lebanon's sovereignty and called on Israel to withdraw its troops from occupied Lebanese territories. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Key demands of the declaration

The document says: "We welcome the ceasefire in Lebanon and call on all parties to strictly observe its terms and fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701."

The declaration also states: "We condemn the continuing violations of the ceasefire regime, as well as of Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity. We call on Israel to comply with the terms agreed with the Lebanese government and to withdraw its occupation forces from Lebanese territories still under its control."

Brief background on BRICS

BRICS is an intergovernmental association founded in 2006 by Russia, China, India and Brazil. In 2011, the Republic of South Africa joined it. Since the beginning of 2024, a number of other countries have joined BRICS. In 2026, India chairs BRICS.

The 18th BRICS summit is being held on 12-13 September at the "Bharat Mandapam" complex in New Delhi.
