Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Maulen Koshanov stated that the feat of the defenders of the Brest Fortress unites the countries of the former USSR through shared memory. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
During his visit to the Brest Fortress, Koshanov said: "The Brest Fortress is a symbol of our common history. Here every stone reminds us of the feat of our ancestors."
He also emphasized the importance of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Belarus. "We must build the future together, without forgetting the past," Koshanov added.
The Senate Chairman particularly noted the feat of Kazakhstani participants in the defense of the Brest Fortress. According to him, this feat should be passed down from generation to generation.
Koshanov made this statement ahead of the 85th anniversary of the defense of the Brest Fortress. The event was attended by representatives of former USSR countries.
