In the first match of the second round in Group C, Morocco defeated Scotland thanks to a quick goal from PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ismael Saibari. The second match was more eventful.

For half an hour, the Brazilians searched for the key to Johnny Placide's goal (the French Bastia goalkeeper), then scored three times before halftime. Vinícius Júnior was involved in all goals.

In the 23rd minute, Ancelotti's favorite from his Real Madrid days burst into the penalty area and fired a powerful shot; Manchester United's Matheus Cunha opened the scoring in a battle with a defender. In the 36th minute, Cunha scored a double, again assisted by Vinícius. In stoppage time of the first half, the Madrid player scored himself. Receiving a pass from deep by Lucas Paquetá, Vinícius went one-on-one with Placide and left him no chance – 3:0.
