The Financial Monitoring Agency's department for the West Kazakhstan Region has uncovered the embezzlement of budget funds allocated to the agro-industrial complex development program. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to the investigation, the suspect, through his controlled partners "Agrocomplex ARSEN" and "OnegeAgroService", submitted documents to the authorized body to receive an investment subsidy to reimburse costs allegedly incurred for the construction of water-saving irrigation systems in the Kuygenkol rural district of the Zhanibek district.
To confirm the expenses, false payment orders and completed work acts were provided. "Based on these documents, an investment subsidy totaling 251 million tenge was transferred to the accounts of the companies controlled by the suspect. Subsequently, this money was cashed out," the agency said.
Part of the funds was used to purchase residential real estate. With the court's authorization, the said property has been seized. The investigation is ongoing.
