Kazakh Vice Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev discussed joint projects in green energy, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and the development of Alatau City with the leadership of Hong Kong companies Towngas and Full Vision Capital. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

According to the government press service, the delegation of guests from Hong Kong was led by Alan Chan, Managing Partner of Full Vision Capital.

"Kazakhstan is consistently implementing an energy transition policy and is interested in attracting international investors and advanced technologies," Bozumbayev noted at the meeting.

He named Alatau City as one of the key platforms for project implementation, where special conditions, tax and customs benefits, and a "one-stop shop" principle operate for investors.

The parties considered the possibility of introducing EnerVenue long-term electricity storage technologies, building a plant for the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) using EcoCeres technology, as well as developing solar energy and Towngas Smart Energy intelligent energy systems.

Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to continue working on joint investment projects.

The new city of Alatau is located on 88,000 hectares, with a population of 52,200 people. The city includes 12 former villages and part of Konayev. The authorities aim to turn it into an export-oriented trade and logistics center.

To date, Alatau has formed a pool of 53 investment projects totaling over 2 trillion tenge in industry, logistics, agro-processing, services, and creative industries. More than 30,000 jobs are expected to be created.

In June 2026, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev gave instructions for the development of the new city. The day before, the head of state was shown Alatau's "business card" — the Iconic Complex (Iconic Towers). The project, developed by the American firm SOM, is a "vertical city" consisting of two towers 272 meters high.

Earlier, at the "Kazakhstan – EU" roundtable in Brussels, President Tokayev stated that the "smart city" project Alatau will open new opportunities for the development of the crypto industry, innovation, and high-tech business.

Meanwhile, Vice Prime Minister Bozumbayev spoke about how they plan to defeat corruption in Alatau.
