A mass food poisoning incident has been recorded in the village of Boraldai, Almaty region. According to preliminary data, 19 people were taken to hospitals. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
According to the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Control of Ili District, it was preliminarily established that all victims consumed products from one establishment – Sushi Time, located on the territory of the Alatau market. After the incident, the food outlet suspended operations until the inspection is completed.
Specialists from the sanitary and epidemiological service are working at the scene. The department inspected the establishment and took samples of finished products, raw materials, and surface swabs for laboratory analysis.
"The department's employees conducted an operational inspection of the establishment and took samples of finished products, raw materials, as well as surface swabs. All materials were immediately sent for laboratory analysis to determine the exact cause and causative agent of the infection," the department reported.
The situation is under the control of relevant authorities; the results of laboratory tests will be published later. The victims are receiving necessary medical care.
Earlier, Kursiv reported that sushi and roll lovers were warned about the risks. Purchasing favorite Japanese delicacies such as sushi and rolls from unofficial outlets or through Instagram accounts of private individuals is a direct risk of ending up in a hospital bed, the Sanitary and Epidemiological Control Committee stated.
Kazakhstan's sanitary doctors warn that the use of raw materials of unknown origin, disregard for temperature conditions, and the absence of health certificates for cooks make such products dangerous to health.
