Police have opened a criminal case against world boxing champion Temirtas Zhusupov. The athlete claims he was defending himself during a family conflict, while the injured woman was hospitalized in Kokshetau with head injuries. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

Police have opened a criminal case against world boxing champion Temirtas Zhusupov, Orda.kz reported, citing the victim's sister, who stated on social media that the woman was admitted to a hospital in Kokshetau with head injuries.

She also said that after his arrest, the athlete was released within a few hours, and the family fears for the woman's safety.

The Health Department of Akmola Region confirmed that the woman was admitted to the multidisciplinary regional hospital on June 30.

According to medical staff, she was diagnosed with:

  • 01concussion;
  • 02soft tissue injury to the face;
  • 03bruising in the area of the right eye.

The patient did not require surgical treatment. The next day, she refused hospitalization and continued treatment on an outpatient basis.

The police reported that a pre-trial investigation is underway.

Temirtas Zhusupov confirmed by phone that a conflict occurred between him and his wife.

According to him, his wife was the first to use force, namely trying to poke out his eye with a key and hit him with scissors, after which, as the boxer put it, he "could not stand it and calmed down" his spouse.

He also stated that conflicts in the family have been ongoing for a long time and that his wife has repeatedly shown aggression towards him.

The couple are raising two children, and according to the athlete, family relations have long been in crisis.

Temirtas Zhusupov is a world boxing champion, winner of the Asian Championship, and multiple medalist of international competitions.

Earlier, Kursiv reported that the common-law husband of famous Kazakh singer Marzhan Arapbayeva beat her.
