This year, about 127,000 applicants submitted applications to participate in the competition for educational grants. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

According to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, this is 14,000 more compared to last year. Last year, 113,000 applications were accepted for the competition.

The ministry recalled that this year more than 75,000 grants have been allocated for bachelor's degree programs. 60% of the grants are for engineering specialties, 20% for pedagogical specialties, and 20% for other fields, taking into account labor market needs.

In recent years, the choice of applicants in the most popular areas has remained unchanged. Most applications were submitted for such areas as "Engineering, Processing and Construction Industries", "Pedagogical Sciences" and "Information and Communication Technologies".

The list of grant recipients will be published by August 10. Admission to higher education institutions will end on August 25.
