Bakytzhan Baizhanov, convicted in the case of ex-minister Kuandyk Bishimbayev, has been granted amnesty. His lawyer Gaziz Yntykbayev announced this, reports a Sputnik Kazakhstan correspondent. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

Today, the Stepnogorsk City Court considered Baizhanov's petition. According to the lawyer, he will be released under the amnesty declared in connection with the adoption of the new Constitution. "After noon, the court ruling will be sent to the institution. Based on it, Baizhanov must be released immediately," Yntykbayev said in an interview with a Sputnik Kazakhstan correspondent.

Baizhanov's unserved sentence is just over three months. It is worth noting that Bakytzhan Baizhanov was sentenced to 4 years in prison for concealing a crime. Last year, his sentence was commuted.
