The National Bank explained the procedure for calculating fees and bonuses when paying with a unified QR code. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
On July 19, a new interbank mobile payment system started operating in Kazakhstan. Within its framework, it became possible to make payments via a unified QR code on terminals of any bank.
"The fee for a payment via a unified QR during an interbank transfer should not exceed the fee charged when paying with a card of another bank. Thus, entrepreneurs are guaranteed that accepting payments via a unified QR will not lead to additional costs compared to a similar transaction using a card of any other bank," said National Bank specialists.
If the terminals of the buyer and seller are serviced by the same bank, the tariff is set by that bank. If the banks are different, the entrepreneur pays a 1 percent commission.
"1 percent goes to the buyer's bank. Part of this amount the bank can return to clients in the form of bonuses and cashback. That is, this part of the commission finances bonus programs. The remaining amount is received by the bank servicing the entrepreneur for accepting non-cash payments," the specialists explained.
For the buyer, payment via a unified QR is free.
