55 forest fires were recorded in Kazakhstan in 24 hours. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

On July 20, 2026, 55 forest fires were recorded on the territory of the state forest fund of the republic. The largest number of fires was recorded in the state forest natural reserve "Semey Ormany", where 41 fire sites were identified.

"On the territory of the 'Ertis Ormany' state forest natural reserve, 9 forest fires occurred, in the East Kazakhstan region – 3, one each in the 'Nauryzym' state natural reserve and the 'Bayanauyl' state national natural park," the statement said.

The main cause of the fires is lightning discharges. According to updated operational data, 45 forest fires were completely extinguished, 8 fires were isolated. The spread of the remaining 2 fire sites was stopped, and the situation is fully under control.
