UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham plans to visit the United States in September along with other European leaders to discuss the issue of providing missiles for Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
According to Bloomberg, Burnham will travel to the US next month with other European leaders to persuade President Donald Trump to allow Ukraine to receive some missiles from US Patriot stockpiles ahead of the winter season.
The Prime Minister told the agency that he is likely to visit New York in September to attend the UN General Assembly. He said European leaders are considering holding another meeting of the so-called "coalition of the willing" on the sidelines of the General Assembly to obtain Patriot interceptor missiles for Ukraine from the stocks of the US and other countries.
Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder conflict resolution, directly involve NATO countries in the conflict, and are "playing with fire." Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that any cargo with weapons for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia.
