Akim of Abai region Berik Uali informed President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev about the progress of the Alakol tourist zone development. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
This year, 15.4 billion tenge has been allocated for the modernization of coastal infrastructure. This includes 11.6 billion tenge from the Special State Fund for laying power lines and reconstructing the terminal of Urzhar airport.
The akim also reported on the socio-economic development results of Abai region for 2025 and indicators for the first four months of this year. According to Berik Uali, last year the gross regional product reached 3.9 trillion tenge.
"In January-April of this year, the short-term economic indicator was 103.8 percent. Investment volume increased by 19.4 percent, with positive dynamics in industry, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, and transport," he said.
According to him, since last year, the number of projects in the total investment pool has increased from 29 to 112. The volume of attracted investments grew from 2.2 trillion tenge to 4.4 trillion tenge.
Among major investment projects, the construction of the "Ayagoz – Bakhty" railway line worth 577.5 billion tenge is underway. In Semey, projects are being implemented to build a new thermal power plant worth 714 billion tenge and a mining and processing plant with a total investment of 255 billion tenge.
The akim also reported on the work to create a special economic zone. In the planned zone in Semey, it is intended to implement production projects worth a total of 400 billion tenge and create 2,500 new jobs. Proposals have been received for three major projects.
