Berik Asylov, who has headed the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan since March 2022, has been reappointed to the position. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.

The corresponding decree was signed by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the press service of Akorda reported.

"By the decree of the Head of State, Asylov Berik Nogaiuly was appointed Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the statement said.

Berik Asylov has worked in the prosecutor's office for more than 30 years. He began his career as an intern at the prosecutor's office of the Alatau district of Almaty, then held positions as an investigator, senior investigator for especially important cases, deputy of the Almaty Aviation Transport Prosecutor, and head of a department of the General Prosecutor's Office.

Over the years, Asylov worked in leadership positions in the prosecutor's office of the South Kazakhstan region, was the prosecutor of Shymkent, the Western Regional Transport Prosecutor, the prosecutor of the Aktobe region, and in 2010 became Deputy Prosecutor General.

From 2011 to 2017, he headed the prosecutor's office of Almaty, then led the prosecutor's office of the North Kazakhstan region. In 2019, he was appointed First Deputy Prosecutor General, and on March 3, 2022, he headed the General Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan.

With the new decree, the president confirmed Asylov's powers in this position.
