Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov has instructed authorities to strengthen liability for pedestrians. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.
At today's government meeting, the issue of road safety was discussed. In this context, the prime minister also addressed road accidents involving pedestrians.
"In most cases, pedestrians themselves are to blame. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the liability of those who cross the road in unauthorized places," Bektenov said.
At the same time, there are also many road accidents caused by drivers at unregulated pedestrian crossings.
"I instruct akimats to expand the installation of video recording systems at such sections. It is especially necessary to ensure the installation of modern traffic lights with countdown displays near educational institutions," the head of government noted.
