Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov introduced new heads appointed by presidential decrees to the staff of three ministries. This was reported by Qazaqyia.kz citing Kursiv Media.
Ministry of Ecology
Alibek Kuantyrov took over the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. Bektenov thanked his predecessor Yerlan Nysanbayev for his work and outlined tasks for the new head of the department.
Among the priorities are further implementation of the "Taza Kazakhstan" initiative, restoration of forest areas, development of a circular economy, waste processing, and infrastructure of national parks.
Separately, the Prime Minister instructed to keep under control the projects for construction of waste-to-energy plants in Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent, with subsequent dissemination of such experience to other regions.
Ministry of Emergency Situations
Murat Mukhanov became the new Minister of Emergency Situations. Bektenov thanked the former head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Chingis Arinov, for his work.
The new minister has been tasked with protecting the population and territories from emergencies, improving the effectiveness of the civil protection system and the level of response to natural and man-made emergencies. The Ministry of Emergency Situations was also instructed to continue strengthening the material and technical base of rescue units.
Ministry of Culture and Information
Arman Kyrykbayev headed the Ministry of Culture and Information. His predecessor Aida Balayeva moved to work in the Security Council.
Bektenov instructed the new minister to develop interaction between the state and civil society, continue work in the field of youth and family policy, and strengthen coordination on issues of interethnic and interfaith harmony.
Reappointment of Bektenov
Earlier, Kursiv reported that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev reappointed Olzhas Bektenov as Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. His candidacy was supported by deputies of the Kurultai at a plenary session.
Bektenov stated that the government expects to ensure economic growth of at least 5% by the end of the year. Among the priorities of the new Cabinet are increasing citizens' incomes, reducing inflation, modernizing infrastructure, digital transformation, and implementing the second stage of economic and social reforms.
